Shibuya Pixel Art Contest Now Accepting Entries! | Featured News

Want to make your mark on Tokyo's eclectic Shibuya area? You'll have a chance to do just that with the annual Shibuya Pixel Art contest, which displays winning pieces from all sorts of artists around the neighborhood!

Your pixel art piece can be themed around any of the following keywords (or even a combination): Shibuya, newborn, game over, kabuki, and banana. To enter, simply follow Shibuya Pixel Art's official account on Instagram or Twitter after posting on either of the two platforms with the hashtag #shibuyapixelart2022 and the title of your piece.

Whether it's a drawing, video, game, or even a sculpture, any type of entry is welcome as long as it's pixel art! Be sure to enter by July 31, 2022 (JST). If you need inspiration before then, check out the previous years' winners and the judges' comments right here.

This year's contest will be judged by a panel that includes renowned Final Fantasy artist Kazuko Shibuya and legendary pixel art group eBoy.

Fans in Japan can also look forward to a special exhibition on September 25, 2022 at Shibuya Hikarie, as well as the construction of a physical Pixel Art Museum. The museum will officially open in 2025, but part of it will be open to the public as soon as fall 2022.
