Rose of Versailles Animated Film Announces Additional Cast | Anime News

The all-new animated film The Rose of Versailles opens in theaters on January 31st, 2025.

The newly added cast members include Shunsuke Takeuchi as Alain de Soissons, Takuya Eguchi as Florian de Gerodelle and Miyu Irino as Bernard Châtelet.

The Rose of Versailles is the definitive work by Riyoko Ikeda that brilliantly illustrates the love and lives of people living each day to the fullest in revolutionary France. It was serialized in the weekly manga magazine Margaret from 1972 and has surpassed over 20 million copies sold.

The original manga has garnered enthusiastic support from readers since its serialization and has become a social phenomenon in many ways including being adapted for the stage by the Takarazuka Revue, having a TV anime and more, establishing itself as a monumental work in the world of shoujo manga.

The all-new animated film is directed by Ai Yoshimura ( Ao Haru Ride, Cheer Boys!!) and animated by MAPPA ( Jujutsu Kaisen, In This Corner of the World). The cast includes Miyuki Sawashiro as Oscar François de Jarjayes, Aya Hirano as Marie Antoinette, Toshiyuki Toyonaga as André Grandier and Kazuki Kato as Hans Axel von Fersen.
